IBF Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua MBE has taken delivery of a brand new Range Rover SVAutobiography (SVA) Dynamic. The SVA is finished by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) department in Warwickshire who allow customers to personalise their vehicles with unique paint colours and other limitless options depending on how large their wallet is. The SVA Dynamic starts at £134k but Anthony Joshua’s car will have cost a fair amount more than that.

Apparently it is black suede with diamonds and a gold roof. Hmm…no thank you. Link to advert here.

Today was the convoy through Bibury in support of Peter Maddox whose yellow Vauxhall Corsa was vandalised. The car was written off by vandals for ‘ruining the view’ of a famous row of cottages in Bibury, Gloucestershire. The cottages feature inside UK passports and are a popular tourist destination. After saying he would replace it with a bright green Corsa, Mr Maddox bought a grey one for fear of his new car being vandalised.

The Range Rover Velar that was revealed this week shares much of its structure and its engines with the Jaguar F-Pace. As a result their silhouettes are fairly similar. The F-Pace starts at £35k with the Velar costing an extra £10k. To get the 380ps V6 petrol the F-Pace would cost from £53k, which is £17k less than the Velar.

The B3 GT3 is Alpina’s equaivalent to the BMW M3 GTS. Apparently there are only 99 of these worldwide, 4 of which are in the UK where this car is for sale. It’s covered just over 2000 miles and is up for £80k. Below is the link to the dealer’s website:

The Volkswagen XL1 has a 0.8 litre two cylinder diesel engine and an electric motor with a combined power output of 75ps. However, it weighs just 795kg since many parts are made of carbon fibre and it has a drag coefficient of 0.186. This means that it manages an official (in test conditions, not real driving) 313mpg! It looks so futuristic and with those doors it would steal the limelight from many a supercar. This one is a 2015 car with only 100 miles on the clock and is up for £100k.

Okay, you could say that the equivalent of the ‘Holy Trinity’ in the Noughties was some other supercars (Murcielago, Zonda, Koenigsegg, etc) but the F1, Carrera GT and Enzo are the predecessors to the P1, 918, and LaFerrari.

Obviously this is a bit ‘tongue in cheek’.

Almost all road cars have a synchromesh gearbox but many race race cars have a dog ring gearbox. Why, and what is the difference? Changing gear works by sliding different gears up and down shafts. This engages different gears to allow different combinations and produce different overall gear ratios.

We all know 5 cylinder engines sound amazing but not all of us can afford to spend £25k on a used Audi RS3, let alone £40k on a new one. So here are 9 cars that are much more affordable but still provide you with a sonorous 5 cylinder engine.

Dutch dealer Hoefnagels currently has a Ferrari 599 GTO for sale in a rare classic Le Mans livery, which I think looks stunning. It was made in 2011, it has covered 3400km and if you have €795000 to spare then why not. But really I think you need that 250 GTO in your garage as well! It’s an amazing car and the engine sounds insane but I think it could have looked a bit better. The overall shape is good, but I really don’t like the front splitter hanging off that single support from the centre of the front of the bonnet. I also think they could have painted the air outlets in the bonnet. I am also a fan of elegant light deigns, so I like the rear lights but I think the front ones are too long. Maybe Ferrari should have consulted Pininfarina instead of designing the car in house. What do you think?
