Overall, being a car enthusiast is pretty great; there are some good benefits to loving cars. However, there are also some noticeable drawbacks as well, let's talk about those before the good things. Loving Cars Can Be An Expensive Hobby

Top Fuel drag racing and the dragsters that compete are really something else. I recently talked with my uncle who owns some jet skis who I discovered really likes watching NHRA drag racing. He told me a bunch of cool stuff about the racing and the cars they use. Here’s what we talked about…

After having some fun at Silverwood, today my family has been having some fun on lake Pond Orielle (pronounced pond oray). My uncle and aunt from Southern California were in town and brought their jet skis to ride on the lake. I remember my uncle’s son taking me out on one a couple of years ago, it was a two stroke and we ended up falling off. Now, I got to go ride one by myself. Initially, it was hard to control and seemingly inabalnced although it was really fast going straight. The jet skis were old by jet ski standards so the only way you could turn at speed was under power.

Aside from drag racing and NASCAR, Monster Jam is one of the most American motorsports ever created. Monster Jam is focused more about entertaining fans with wicked stunts than serious competition like Formula One. I’ll talk about the origins of the monster truck and my personal experience seeing them in action. Bigfoot

From my perspective, it seems like almost everyone my age who’s a car enthusiast aren’t really into American cars; as of recently I think I'm starting to understand why that's the case. Here is me giving my mortal nemesis some credit where it's due... One: A Vibrant And Accepting Modding Culture

There are some things when it comes to cars that are scientific fact while other things are just a matter of opinion. Here is how all of that works out… Facts

One thing I've noticed during my period of learning about engines is that you have an either or scenario when it comes to how they make power. While there are engines that make both a lot of horsepower and torque, power modifications often improve one aspect of an engine's performance. I'll talk about each section of an engine and which types of those parts make more horsepower or torque... Intake Manifold

I don't mean to brag (or maybe I do) but America has a great car scene. There's plenty of variety, muscle cars and pickup trucks and a lot of different climates and geographies that can suit you. However, there are some interesting car cultures that are outside the land of guns and V8's. Here's a list of my favorites... One: Australian Burnout Competitions

One thing's for sure, the FnF franchise has made a big impact on car culture as we know it, but how? I'll be taking a look at all 8 movies to broaden the spectrum of influence. The Negative Some people may have a problem with how Fast and Furious “glorifies” reckless driving and street racing; they aren’t entirely wrong however. I’m sure most of us here are guilty of driving quite enthusiastically after seeing an FnF film, potentially with the end result of a chat with a policeman on the side of the road.

The major plot point of the movie Cars is hotshot NASCAR rookie Lightning McQueen accidentally ending up in a tiny desert town called Radiator Springs on his way to a tie breaker race in California. The construction of an Interstate highway near Radiator Springs changed the little town. Instead of the new stretch of road boosting business like everyone hoped it would, it had the opposite effect. Because the new freeway was so efficient compared to Route 66, less and less people traveled through Radiator Springs.

There will always be the '69 GTO Judges and the '71 Hemi Cudas in the American car scene that are very popular and understandably so. However, there are some hidden gems in the USA vehicle line up that I think are worthy of some more limelight... One: 1970 AMC Rebel “The Machine”

First off, I should probably start off by stating my definitions for a driver’s car and a hooligan’s car A driver’s car is a car with sporty intentions that rewards the driver’s good driving with enjoyment and confidence to push harder. A hooligan’s car is a car that is the most fun when completely sideways, accelerating like mad on the highway or peeling away from a stoplight; above all, it’s a car that makes you laugh with excitement.

I feel like not that many people know too much about superchargers compared to turbochargers, so I thought I would make a post about them to educate the masses. Here we go... Centrifugal Supercharger The short story is that a centrifugal supercharger is for simplification purposes a turbocharger that is belt driven by the engine’s crankshaft. They are the most common in modified cars, there are very few street cars that came with a centrifugal supercharger from the factory.

I'm sure that no matter what I say here, some people won't be convinced. Whether it's rally or Formula One, everyone has their favorite motorsport for one reason or another. One: It’s Not Just Trophy Trucks There are many different types of vehicles just even running the famous Baja 1000. There are SCORE classes that include ATV’s, motorcycles, air cooled Beetles, mini trucks, and that’s just a few of them. I’ll put a full list of the SCORE classes down below. Meanwhile, professional rally is mainly now turbocharged hatchbacks.

“The front of the (Nissan 350Z) has a 3 percent weight advantage to begin with so when you steer, the extra load helps the front end to go into the corner smoothly. Then upon accelerating at the corner exit, the 3 percent load at the front is shifted to the rear allowing the car to accelerate with neutral weight distribution. You’re really not supposed to make a car with 50/50 weight distribution, such cars will go into a turn with understeering. Then when you try to accelerate, the backload will become excessive resulting in a push-under effect.”

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to test drive a 1984 Ford Mustang GT. Beforehand, I was initially excited to go and see it for real. When I pulled up and saw it, I actually didn’t mind the looks at all. I’m rather sure that there are a good amount of people who don’t like the looks of the ‘84 Mustang, but personally I kind of like it. The pictures of the car I saw on Craigslist looked very good but in person, it wasn’t as nice. There was some surface rust on some of the parts and the car overall wasn’t in mint condition to say the least.

It may seem like there is no benefit to putting a carburetor onto a modern engine, but there are actually some good reasons to do so. Here they are… No Computers Necessary Granted, carburetors aren’t entirely simple to work on (especially with a Quadrajet) but they don’t require a computer to tune, they use jets and metering rods instead. With that and a few simple hand tools, you’re ready to tune your carburetor to your needs. Affordability
