I think you’ll find it interesting if I tell you the front headlights from the MX5 NA cost 3 times the price of the exact same part for the Ford Ranger.
There are other oddities. The instrument cluster from the Pagani Zonda is the same unit as it is used on the second gen. Lancia Y. You will find the expensive engine from Abarths in any standard version Lancia Delta or Fiat Bravo. Ferraris often use cheap off-the-shelf parts from FIAT cars (i.e. the ECU on the Ferrari 360 Modena is the same as used on the Fiat Punto, and the throttle bodies as well). The front lights from the Punto are also used on the very rare MG XPower SV. The Ford KA uses an instrument cluster from a Fiat Punto and the rest of the mechanical work from a Fiat 500. I could go on…
