As someone who has actually lived with a few different flatmates during the last few years (not anymore, unfortunately), I can highlight the following benefits they enjoyed and expressed appreciation for:
Lifts. Like all the time. To work, to the train station, to the corner shop, from the corner shop and so on. They need IKEA 1 hour before it closes and ask me if I think I could get them there in time? Challenge accepted. Plus car guys usually drink less and more likely to agree to be the designated driver, getting the rest back home safely from the pub…
They get to enjoy nice cars around them. Even a non-carguy can appreciate, say, a Porsche - especially if they get a lift to their date in it. A non-carguy in my shoes would spend a significantly smaller proportion of their income on cars and would probably drive a “regular” car.
They can easily get advice about their cars. Plus I probably cared about their cars more than they do… which is of course, a benefit to them
Carguys spend most of their money on cars, leaving less money to spend on various clutter (although also less money to spend on things that are actually needed)
Carguys love roadtrips. My flatmates and I managed to spend at least one weekend each month roadtripping to random locations, whereas a non-carguy would probably insist on staying home and watching football.
Some non-carguys are eager to learn about cars and car culture, but sometimes just don’t know where to start or what’s in it for them. Carguys can help with that, sometimes successfully converting boring people into carguys or at least semi-carguys.
Free/cheap servicing
He wouldn’t bring home a girl every night
He can fix your car if your car is broken
….opened threat…. thought about what my ey said… closed threat and grabbed the keys to one of my cars….. comon jokeing but honestly beiing a car guy benefits from that are a lot of complains from you to or from another person about driving style. Beiing a german my booze collection is still impressive (first thought was less alcohol but a look around was like… maybe not). At least I never called a guy to fix something in my apartment since I have all the tools and skills to fix it. That was the biggest advantage of the living with a car guy set…..
