10 Hottest Cop Cars From Around The Globe

Check out our list of the 10 coolest cop cars you hope never to see in your rear-view...

10: Subaru Impreza - UK

Though we’ve not seen any evidence of police forces - either within or outside of the UK - using late model Imprezas, a number of ‘em still smoke around in previous gen’ models, like the ugly-as-sin “bug-eye” (its looks alone are enough to halt a shop-lifter in their tracks…) or its marginally more attractive replacement.

9: Ford Capri 2.8 Injection - UK

The original working man’s sportscar. Undeniably cool, with a meaty 2.8-litre motor and rear-wheel drive - some cops thought the Capri’s “wayward” (read “usually sideways”) handling would cause problems for its drivers. Frankly, who gives a damn?

8: Jaguar XF - UK

Police XFs are typically ‘S’ spec’ diesels. Boo. Though it might not pack an XFR’s punch, the 275bhp S still manages the sprint to 60 in a respectable 5.9 seconds. We’d imagine that’s almost twice as fast as a standard issue Astra diesel…

7: Ford Escort RS Cosworth - UK

Once the thieves’ favourite, the police had no choice but to get themselves an Escort or two of their own for high-speed pursuits. So popular was the Cossie with crims', insurance costs skyrocketed to upwards of £25k in the mid-90s...and you thought your premiums were too high.

6: Porsche 911 - Germany

Ze Germans, efficient as they are, made a fundamental flaw in derestricting some of their motorway network - they obviously didn’t think about how to police them. In the mid-60s, this lead to Porsche’s local force ordering a few 911s so they could keep up with the natives. The country’s been using them ever since...

5: Porsche Panamera/Cayenne - Qatar

As a country, nothing quite says “we’re loaded” like equipping what looks to be a sizable chunk of your police force with a fleet of Porsche Panameras and Cayennes. They must’ve had a field day in Stuttgart when the order came in: “You want how many!?”

4: Nissan Skyline R34 -Japan

In a country where all cars are limited to 180kph by law, some might say such a fantastically extravagant (relative to say, our typical panda cars…) police car makes little sense. This is easily refuted by Team CT logic - it’s friggin’ awesome, so all is well.

3: Honda NSX - Japan

Yep - the Japanese again, and this time they really pushed the boat out. It’d take something pretty special to outmaneuver the NSX down one of the country’s twisty mountain roads...

2: Nissan GTR - South Africa, and the UAE

A fair few forces around the world use the GTR, but none quite so whole-heartedly as the South Africans, who’ve got six of the things. Theirs have kevlar reinforced doors, a redesigned centre console to accommodate cuffs...and a gun rack.

1: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 - Italy

Never has a criminal been apprehended quite so stylishly. The Italians have a few Gallardos, one of which they crashed spectacularly a couple of years ago. The Romans have clocked up more than 80,000 miles in theirs since 2005...

It's not uncommon among police forces to borrow flash motors from manufacturers to use at promotional events, and there's no shortage of lists of such cars around the web. Hence, CT's Top 10 is made up exclusively of police cars that either are serving or have seen active duty at some point. C'mon - imagine plod cruising up the M1 in this...

With that in mind, any we've missed out?
