I miss my Volvo 850 T5. Its 5 cylinder had plenty of torque down low. It also sounded amazing, like a diesel crossed with a boxer motor plus had all the fun turbo sounds.

Number 4 isn’t THAT unique. Ford made a twin spark 4 cylinder as well. You could even get them in the base model ford rangers in the 90’s.

What do you guys think of the 2.3 v5 engine from Volkswagen? I’m about to get a SEAT Toledo with that engine.

The 5.7L HEMI. Fantastic engine, but the LS steals the spotlight…
Also, the Mopar 4.7 V8 was a great little engine, torquey as hell.

Or just every toyota motor really, maybe with the exception of the 3AC and that’s a stretch.
they’re all so God damn strong they pretty much all could make the list.

Who the hell would want to change a timing belt on a car WHILE IT’S RUNNING.

Like seriously when have you ever walked into a workshop with somebody doing a cambelt and heard them say “God I wish this engine was running it’d make things so much easier!”

He actually means fan belt. The fan belt was so exposed and easily accessible, that the easiest and fastest way to change it was carefully putting a screwdriver into the pulley that would send it flying off, then putting a new one on and using a screwdriver to get it back on. Takes seconds. The engine itself is very simple, I think the whole thing is only attached to the care with 6 bolts or something.

Glad to see the mighty Falcon’s Barra 4L Six in there! Indestructible engine that has been used by taxi drivers for years. 900,000 - 1,200,000kms (piston rings every 400,000kms or so) out of a block is common, even for the newest most advanced ones. And if you want more power, off the shelf mods and a basic tune will help the NA make 230Kws or more and 440Nms easily (while being better on fuel) or 320Kws or more for the Turbos. But if you want to go all out, those blocks have been known to handle something like 800Kws in drag racing! But Ford America doesn’t want it, and its meeting its end (after more than 50 years of continuous development) in October this year… :(

You can’t change the timing belt on a beetle whilst it’s running, it’s the accesorry belt that can be changed whilst the motor is running.
