10 Supersonic Audis That Could Crush A Veyron
If you're the owner of an Audi R8 V10, you probably think you have the fastest four-ringed car money can buy. The thing is though, you don't...Here are 10 tuned Audi monsters that make an R8 look positively sluggish:
10. S3 0-400 Tune 2 Race - 160mph
Unlike the R8, this first-gen S3 has four seats, a big boot and a tuned 3.2-litre V6 that produces up to 1000hp. It'll smash the quarter mile in 8.84 seconds and won't stop until it hits 160mph.
9. 90 Quattro Turbo 'Feco' - 164+mph
Why spend £115,000 on a V10 R8 when a tuned Audi 90 is a much cooler and more retro way to go fast? This car has a 2.5-litre five-pot with a Garret turbocharger. The gearbox is straight out of an Audi S6. This means this 90 now produces 1000hp, does 0-60mph in 2.1 seconds and a will hit 164mph.
8. S2 Carbon Destroyer - 164mph
This Audi dragster produces a whopping 1140hp which means it can cover the quarter mile in 9.1 seconds at 164mph. It isn't called the 'Carbon Destryoer' for no reason.
7. Quattro KEM Racing - 164.6mph
We love the Quattro and the thought of it being modified had us worried at first. However, this racing spec Audi has 850hp under that retro bonnet - just listen to that sound! Here it is showing the Pikes Peak stage who's boss.
6. Q7 V8 FSI MTM K500 - 175mph
Yes, thanks to fitting a supercharger to a 4.2-litre V8 Q7, you can get an off-road family bus to pump out 500hp and 428lb ft torque. That gives this beast a 0-60mph time of under 5 seconds and a top speed of 175mph. That's not quite as fast as an R8 V10+ but is an achievement nonetheless!
5. R8 V10 MTM Bi Turbo - 217mph
Tuner MTM managed to get a power output of 777hp from this V10, which is over 200hp more than standard. That gets it from 0-62mph in just 3 seconds and up to a top speed of 217mph - 18mph faster than the V8 plus. Decent.
4. RS6 MTM Clubsport - 217mph
The standard 571hp RS6 isn't exactly short on power, but tuner MTM decided that wasn't even nearly enough grunt, so tuned it up to pump out 730hp. That gives it a 0-62mph time of just 3.6 seconds, which is a whole second quicker than the standard RS6 from 2010. Top speed is the same as a Lamborghini Aventador at 217mph. Don't expect practicality to be like the showroom car, though. There's a big roll cage in the back for a start.
3. TT MTM Bimoto - 244mph
This TT has not one, but two 1.8-litre four cylinder engines under its bonnet. Together they produce a total of 740hp, but have the potential to produce up to 1000hp after more modifications. In 2007 it set the record for the fastest Audi in the world with a 0-62mph time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 244mph. That means this TT is just 23mph slower than a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Here it is taking on something even more aerodynamic.
2. R8 Underground Racing - 251mph
The V10 between the front and rear axle of this Audi R8 has been given two turbochargers, which has boosted power to a Veyron Supersport beating 1260hp. That gives it a 0-62mph time of approximately 2.5 seconds and a claimed top speed of 251mph.
1. S4 - 260mph
It turns out the fastest car with four rings is not a brand new supercar with an engine from a cruise liner. It's a 1992 S4 saloon with a 2.5-litre five pot. It's been tuned to pump out 1100hp and managed to reach 260mph at the Boneville salt flats.
