10 Things We All Secretly Do When Playing Racing Games
I mean, we’ve all done that before, right? Lag is the perfect excuse if something goes wrong. It can, quite literally, cover up all of your mistakes. But the key is to not use it as an excuse too often, otherwise you’ll be found out. Not that I know that myself, I heard it from a friend…
2. Purposely crash someone off who’s annoying you
There’s sometimes that person in online lobbies who really gets on your nerves, whether they’re talking WAY too loudly in their microphone, they forced you wide earlier in the race or constantly blocking you. Sometimes, revenge is the only option. And of course, you can always blame it on the lag afterwards.
“I didn’t even touch you on my screen.”
3. Cut the corner, but claim it’s lag
Occasionally we may get a bit too eager when turning into a corner and cut it a little bit. Sometimes we’ll get away with it, other times, maybe not. And if your friend manages to spot it, you can always say you “didn’t see it” on your screen.
4. Brag about your lap time but leave out the assists you used
No one has to know if you had the racing line on, or have traction control on the medium setting. That’s not important. What is important, though, is the fact you beat their lap times. That’s all that matters.
5. Say you scored a better result than you actually did
Ninth place doesn’t sound that great, but top eight makes it seem a little more successful, right? We’ve all lied about our finishing result once…or maybe that’s just me.
6. Rage quit
We get properly invested in these racing games, so when it doesn’t go your way, you’ll probably get a bit annoyed. And if it keeps on happening, chances are you’ll either quit, or throw your controller out of the window. One or the other.
7. Use a cheat code
We’ve all had a little browse around to see what can make our lives easier when it comes to gaming. Some racing games won’t have cheat codes, but others certainly do…
8. Research the easiest way to complete the game
It doesn’t take long to track down tips and tricks for racing games. I mean, I’ve heard it doesn’t take long. I wouldn’t know, of course.
Some laps are good. Some laps are bad. And others are only good because there were a few cheeky corner cuts involved.
If it’s the difference between winning and losing, it’s a risk you are willing to take.
