10 Things You Might Have Missed From The Indian GP
Image source: Getty ImagesThe Buddh International Circuit hosted round 16 of the 2013 Formula 1 season and proved to be the location for the crowning of this year's world champion: Sebastian Vettel. The German took his fourth consecutive title after dominating the race. Here are 10 things that you might have missed from the Indian Grand Prix:
1. Not a great start
Image source: Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 TeamLewis Hamilton's Indian Grand Prix didn't get off to a great start. As he pulled out of his garage for the first time in practice on Friday, he crashed into the pit wall and damaged his front wing.
Unfortunately it wasn't caught on camera but he spoke about the embarrassing clash with the pit wall after the session. He said: "Yeah, not a great way to start the weekend. I came out of the garage and crashed into the wall... it's quite funny."
2. Wheel attempts escape...again
The FIA fined the Williams F1 Team at the last round in Japan after Pastor Maldonado's car shed a wheel during free practice. They promised the FIA that the problem would be sorted but unfortunately the same thing happened two weeks later in India.
Maldonado's car suffered yet another loose wheel during practice two. Fortunately, the wheel retention device kept the tyre in place but it caused it to puncture and sent the wheel nut flying across the circuit. Get it sorted Williams!

4. Man down
Image source: Sauber F1 TeamSauber's Nico Hulkenberg is a highly rated driver in the F1 paddock, but a tiny error from the German during the third practice session resulted in a collision with one of his mechanics. Hulkenberg was straightening his car up to enter his pit box when he clipped his rear jack man. The mechanic escaped with a fractured toe and was back in action a few hours later for qualifying.
5. Up in the air
Esteban Gutierrez didn't feel particularly confident driving the Buddh International Circuit after a terrible day setting up the car on Friday. His race weekend went from bad to worse in qualifying after he launched his car over a kerb. The Mexican driver felt the full force of the accident, admitting that the airborne moment hurt his neck. Poor Esteban...
6. Traffic chaos
India is renowned for its chaotic traffic system and drivers got caught up in the delays, sharing their experiences on Twitter. Nico Rosberg and Max Chilton spotted near misses on the motorway and cows proved to be an unusual obstruction when travelling near the Buddh International Circuit.

7. Smog delay
Image courtesy of Caterham F1 TeamThe third practice session for the Indian Grand Prix was delayed due to visibility issues created by India's smog. Practice sessions are rarely halted and due to the required two hour gap between practice and qualifying, it was shortened by 20 minutes.
8. Fitness training with Fernando
Fernando Alonso managed to sneak in some fitness training prior to the Indian Grand Prix. It wasn't the usual gym session though, as he was using two former F1 drivers for weights. The Spaniard attempted to lift both Pedro de la Rosa and Marc Gene, who are Ferrari test drivers. A slightly unusual way to prepare for a race weekend but he seemed to have a good laugh.
9. Kimi gets a telling off
Image source: Lotus F1 TeamKimi Raikkonen got a telling off during the Indian Grand Prix after making contact with team-mate Romain Grosjean and forcing him off track. His Lotus team wanted the Finn to give the position to his faster team-mate but a slow response caused a rather angry radio conversation.
The 2013 Australian Grand Prix race winner wasn't too impressed by trackside operations director Alan Permane's raised tone.
10. Vettel gives a helping hand
As F1's newly crowned four time world champion, you probably expected Sebastian Vettel to be partying the night away and continuing on from his £21,000 celebrations after the Indian Grand Prix.
However, with such a quick turnaround for this weekend's race in Abu Dhabi, the German driver decided to stay behind and help his team pack up before flying off to the United Arab Emirates. Respect Mr Vettel, respect!
