10 Things You Might Have Missed From Last Weekend's Motorsport Action

In another busy weekend of motorsport - which included Formula 1, Nascar and World Rallycross - here are 10 things for you to catch up on:

1. Hot and sweaty

Reports after last weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix suggested that Kevin Magnussen had suffered burns during the race, thanks to an overheating cockpit, and was treated at the circuit medical centre. However, he rubbished these claims on Monday, tweeting to reassure fans that he was “just hot and sweaty”.

2. Bitch slap

After one of Felipe Massa’s pit stops, a mechanic appeared to slap another crew member in the face. Williams said it was friendly banter, part of an internal competition to beat each other at stops, but it didn’t look that friendly to us…

3. WEC tackles COTA

The FIA World Endurance Championship returned to the track last weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Audi secured a one-two finish in what was a chaotic race, largely thanks to torrential rain which caused a 50 minute red flag.

The No.2 Audi of Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer took victory from the No.1 machine of Tom Kristensen, Lucas di Grassi and Loic Duval – Audi’s second consecutive WEC win. The KCMG team won in LMP2, with Aston Martin Racing winning in both GTE-Pro and GTE-Am.

Joey Logano survived a hectic Sylvania 300 at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway to take his fourth win of the season. It was the second race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and the victory means Logano joins team-mate Brad Keselowski in the Contender Round. Kyle Larson was second with Kevin Harvick in third.

Contact between Martin Truex Jr and Justin Allgaier triggered a multi-car crash at turn two which also collected David Ragan and Denny Hamlin.

A few laps later Jamie McMurray and Matt Kenseth made contact, which caused Kyle Busch to slow. Kasey Kahne couldn’t avoid him and they collided, spinning Busch – who was lucky to not hit the wall.

Brendan Gaughan snatched the lead at the Kentucky Speedway with seven laps to go to win the Nascar Nationwide Series race on Saturday. He took the late restart in fourth but quickly moved to the front. Brian Scott finished second, with Chase Elliott in third.

Sam Hornish Jr hit the wall hard during Saturday’s Nascar Nationwide Series race after contact with Regan Smith.

Cole Custer became the youngest ever winner in a Nascar national series when he took victory in the UNOH 175 Nascar Camping Truck Series race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, at the age of just 16 years, seven months and 28 days.

Petter Solberg took victory in the Red Kiwi World RX of Germany, which was round nine of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The Norwegian won by the slimmest of margins, beating Mattias Ekstrom in the final by just five thousandths of a second. Robin Larsson completed the podium.

10. Block snatches title lead

Over in the USA, Red Bull Global Rallycross was in action at Port of Los Angeles and the championship fight was turned on its head. The double-header round saw Scott Speed and Rhys Millen take the two wins, while podiums in both races have helped Ken Block and Joni Wiman move to the top of the standings after a disastrous weekend for rival Nelson Piquet Jr.
