10 Things You Might Have Missed From Last Weekend's Motorsport Action

Marc Marquez’s domination of the 2014 MotoGP season continued at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with the Spaniard making it 10 wins out of 10 races in the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

Marquez started from pole position but dropped to fourth after a poor start. He soon made up the positions, joining Valentino Rossi at the front of the field. Jorge Lorenzo joined the scrap, creating a three-way battle for the lead. He eventually overtook both drivers at the same corner to take the lead and finished two seconds ahead of Lorenzo, with Rossi in third.

2. Crashes galore

There were plenty of crashes during the MotoGP Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix weekend as you can see in the video above.

Following a close battle for the win at Watkins Glen International on Sunday, A.J Allmendinger took the Cheez-It 355 victory from Marcos Ambrose and Kurt Busch.

He led 30 laps and became the 12th different driver to win in the Nascar Sprint Cup series this season. It was an action-packed race that was red flagged at one point following a huge crash between Ryan Newman and Michael McDowell.

As well as the big smash mentioned above, there were also several other crashes and incidents during the Cheez-It 355. Jimmie Johnson was tapped into a spin in the closing stages on the restart. Most of the field managed to avoid him but several cars weren’t so lucky further back.

Marcos Ambrose may have lost out to A.J Allmendinger for the Nascar Sprint Cup win at Watkins Glen, but he did at least come home victorious in the Nationwide series race on Saturday. Despite an early run-in with Kyle Busch, he stormed to the front and held off Busch in the final laps to take his fourth win at the track in the series. Joey Logano came home in third.

Last weekend marked the mid-way point of the F1 summer break, with the sport returning to the track at Spa-Francorchamps from the 22-24th August.
