11,000rpm In An 870hp Lancer Evo IX Sounds Epic
When the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX was rolled out of the factory between 2005 and 2007, it was already a potent 4x4 supercar slayer. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engined produced a healthy 287bhp and 289lb ft of torque, which enabled the IX to hit 60mph in 4.2 seconds. Given a quarter mile, it would take no longer than 12.6 seconds (with the right driver) to cover the distance.
The MR version - 6spd manual 'box, aluminum roof, hood and wings, BBS wheels and HID headlights - you'll see in action in the video below is a little more potent, however. It's so potent, in fact, that it'll accelerate from 60mph to 120mph in only 4.59sec. It'll also hit 11,000rpm at 14psi boost.
So what's it packing?
The modifications list - and it's a long list - includes an uprated turbo, 1500hp-spec pistons, stage 3 custom cams, 1200hp-spec fuel kit, custom ECU system, intercooler upgrade, 80mm exhaust pipe, lightened flywheel, 10-pot big brake kit (front), 6-pot brake kit (back), plus a triple plate clutch, 5-speed dogbox and 18-inch wheels shod in semi-slick rubbers.
All this kit adds up to one hell of a car (it spins its wheels in third) as you can see:
