12 Things That Happen In Every Single Online Race

Any racing gamer will know that competing online in an open lobby can be a pretty mixed bag. Here are the things that happen in pretty much every online single race!
12 Things That Happen In Every Single Online Race

1. Stationary

There’s always one car that just stays stationary on the start line for the entire race. Maybe they have to step away or rush off? What we do know is it adds another obstacle we’d rather do without…

Naturally with so much going on, the first lap is always pretty tense and probably complete chaos too.

3. Crashed off

In every online race, you’ll get crashed off at some point. There’s probably that one troll who just seems to want everyone else to have a bad time, too.

4. Way out front

It might be you. It might not be you. But you’ll often see one person scampering off into the distance, never to be seen again.

5. Microphone turned up

Whether it’s in the lobby before the game or during the race itself, there’s usually a gamer using a microphone and speaking WAY too loud.

6. Mega overtake

If you get lucky, you’ll either be part of or witness an absolutely bonkers overtake. It’ll be so good; you’ll wonder how the hell it happened in the first place.

7. Driving like a grandma

12 Things That Happen In Every Single Online Race

With every dominant racing gamer, there’s the hopeless player who can’t stop spinning, crashing or just generally trundling around. You might even have to lap them, if they’re that bad.

8. Arch nemesis

This is the person whose username will stay in your mind for quite some time. As anger and frustration levels boil over, it’s almost inevitable you’ll pick up an enemy.

If you’re internet can’t take it, don’t play online. It’ll just ruin it for everyone. Lagging is one of the most common frustrations among racing gamers and it can really muck things up if you get stuck behind the glitchy one.

10. Blocked

There’ll be that moment where you go for the overtake and someone will defend way too aggressively, losing you a heap of time.

Things might be going well and once you’ve emerged from the chaos of lap one, you’ll probably get into the flow and completely nail a couple of laps.

12. Rage quit

You might spin out or crash on your own accord and just think ‘I’ve had enough’. Or someone else might feel the same. In every lobby, there’s a rage-quitter.

I hate it when 2 people are arguing, when you get in the lobby, and it’s extremely stupid and distracting for everyone involved. It will escalate 9/10 times if someone pops in a mic and says something about it.

Great article, I had a good read and a great laugh.

Thanks means a lot! And yeah that’s the worst. Or when two friends are the only ones with mics and are having a huge conversation

I actually find it less annoying to play Call Of Duty online.

Mainly because they have really payed attention to minimising idiots. A car sat on the start line for a whole lap should be booted automatically. before anyone reaches it.

There’s algorithms to determine someone being deliberate about hitting others.

There’s matchmaking so that drivers of a similar level get put together - that way slow people don’t get frustrated.

I play PES a lot as well, and that has a system now where you can choose the minimum level of internet connection you are willing to play at.

The S2K Guy

In Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2012’s case, it’s AI and other players suddenly jumping onto your roof and getting back down. Ultimate overtake though.
