I’m sorry but I think the fuel economy is quite an interesting factor in racing, mainly because of strategic points.

To make it simple: Drive as fast a spossible, as far as possible.
This is especially interesting in races with restricted fuel usages, like F1 or formerly Group C (dunno about LMP1 now).
