Nascar does race on non-oval tracks once in a while, but it doesn’t always end well…

Colliding with a concrete wall head on split Michael Waltrip’s 1990 Nascar in half. Amazingly, he walked away with just a few cuts and bruises.

Paul Menard pitted at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2013 with a fire. Suddenly, his tyre exploded, nearly wiping out a few of the pit crew!

Elliott Sadler emerged from this frightning barrel-roll at Talladega in 2003 unharmed.

Kyle Larson got caught up in a terrifying crash on the final lap of the Nascar Nationwide race at Daytona in 2013. His car got airborne approaching the finish line and hit the catch fencing. Larson walked away unharmed but sadly some spectators were injured.

This Nascar truck race crash involved almost half of the field - 13 cars in total. And it was all sparked by the smallest piece of contact.

Dale Earnhardt Jr’s car caught fire after hitting the wall. It’s fair to say things got pretty foggy in the cockpit, but he was okay.

Hits don’t get much harder than that. Michael McDowell was pushing hard in qualifying at Texas in 2008 when a slide sent him into the wall. Amazingly he climbed out of the car and walked away.

A scary situation at Richmond earlier this year, as a few pit crew members were injured in this fiery incident.

You just can’t imagine what it must be like to stare at the ground through the windscreen as your stock car takes flight. Wow.

Mike Harmon’s car took not one but two hits at Bristol in 2002. Crashing into a concrete wall split his car in half, and another driver smashed into the half that Harmon wasn’t in. Incredibly, he was uninjured.
