An embargo on photos and details was ignored earlier today by 4WheelsNews today on the 2010 Jaguar XF-R, which is hardly surprising in this internet-savvy day and age. We covered pre-production spy photos of this vehicle recently, along with some hints and guesses at mechanical details (Here.) Regardless of goofy media embargoes, the details are in on the upcoming "R" performance variant of the Jaguar XF sedan, and it sounds rather promising.
Under the hood is an updated version of the aging Jaguar AJ-V8, punched out to an even 5.0L, still sporting a supercharger, and now producing a rather substantial 510 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Expect easy sub 5.0 second 0-100km/h sprints with Jag's newest flagship, which should be debuting at the Detroit auto show.
There are cosmetic changes as well, but in typical Jaguar fashion they are restrained and elegant. The front bumper is redesigned for a more aggressive appearance as well as improved cooling functions, and the hood is domed and vented for the same reason. R-design alloys are exclusive to the XFR, and quad integrated exhaust pipes out back signal that this Jag means business.
More details should hopefully be forthcoming on this super sedan soon - we'll keep you up to date!
