The 2017 Camaro ZL1 Hits 60mph In First Gear

With development of the new Camaro ZL1 nearing its end, Chevrolet has announced some serious performance stats that will send reverberations through the muscle car world.
Producing 650bhp and a stupendous amount of torque, Chevy has proclaimed that the ZL1 can reach 60mph using just first gear in the six-speed manual option. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is available but we much prefer the thought of taking the Dodge Viper on at its own game.

Considering that the previous generation car made the sprint to 60mph in four seconds with a meagre 580bhp and 100kg extra weight, the brand new car should dip well into the three-second club. Despite the launch of the more-powerful Ford Mustang GT500 being on the horizon, the Camaro will be another addition to the influx of super-muscle cars in the current market.

I can do 255mph at first gear
Is MichaelFernie the only one who works in the CarThrottle headquarter? Almost all news posts are from him xD
This is hardly news. It’s the same Tremec TR-6060 as in the 2013 Shelby GT500 which could also hot 60 MPH in 1st gear
To be honest, having long gearing isn’t much fun on the road. - By the time you’ve redlined it in 2nd and 3rd, you’d be in licence-losing or prison territory in most countries!
The ZL1 Spec is above the SS correct?
Sounds like the new zl1 will be miles ahead in performance above the hellcat. Yes it has 57 less horsepower but it has the same torque and it weighs in at 600lbs less and even has a lower sticker price by $5k .
This makes me want the new ZL1 even more. :D
It was exactly the same story for the C5 and C6 Corvette last time I checked
What are the gear ratios?
Spot on. Thats why on the street I love hot hatches. I had a motorcycle that did 82mph in 1st. 110mph in 2nd 135mph in 3rd. You just wanna here the engine and here it scream. You would be easily slipping into hot water by the end of 2nd. Where is the fun in that? On the street Id rather have a 10 speed manual and skip gears when i want for the camaro if we must play the fuel economy game.
