3 Things We've Hated About Series 20 Of Top Gear So Far

There's been much to love about the 20th series of Top Gear, which hit our screens last Sunday. My highlights so far include Hammond's comparison between the Clio RS, 208GTi and Fiesta ST, not to mention Clarkson vs May (rental car vs Oracle Catamaran segment).

Seeing Clarkson tear his face off in a BAC Mono last night also filled me with joy, while Hammond's taxi racing was entertaining, albeit scripted to death. However, parts of the first two episodes have also filled me despair.

1. TG's New 'Reasonably' Priced Car

Top Gear's decision to use a £17k Astra as its new reasonably priced car is something we all agreed was a mistake - £17k is not a reasonable price to pay for a car which buckles under the pressure of Jimmy Carr for starters...No, the Dacia Sandero should have been the car of choice here.

2. Freerunners Vs Trials Bike

Last night's episode was the more disappointing of the two so far. Let's start with James May's fantastically dull Freerunner vs motorised bicycle scripted routine. Freerunning has been done to death over the years so we're not all that impressed anymore. Then there's the fact that not one car featured in the piece, which was disappointing too. Slow motion replays of the lads diving through sugar glass? Naff! Captain Slow tracking the action on live CCTV footage? Give over...

Looks like I'm not alone on this one, either. Here's a comment I spotted on Reddit:

3. Clarkson's 'Hertfordshire' Claim

Clarkson's no fool, so his claim that the roads surrounding Pitlochry in Scotland were in fact the roads of Hertfordshire was meant as a joke. Hopefully. Either way, that didn't stop all our Twitter feeds being clogged with hate and scandal surrounding this year's biggest crime against Scotland.

If it was meant as a joke, it wasn't funny. If we were expected to believe the claim, then Clarkson's BAC review from last night clearly altered his sense of humour.
