300mph Will Be A 'Baseline' For The Hennessey Venom F5

John Hennessey intends to take the F5 well beyond 300mph, although tyres and the sheer space required will be limiting factors
300mph Will Be A 'Baseline' For The Hennessey Venom F5

It seems like a new top speed war is brewing, doesn’t it? Last November Koenigsegg astonished the motoring world by sending an Agera RS down a closed road in Nevada at ridiculous 284mph, and now SSC wants to make its Tuatara even faster. Texas-based Hennessey is hoping to do the same with the Venom F5, with claims that the car will be able to hit 300mph.

That’s quite a suggestion, but now company founder John Hennessey has gone a step further: that 300mph mark is apparently just a starting point. “300mph is the kind of baseline – that’s where we would like to begin,” he told Topgear.com. However, there are two pretty big stumbling blocks that may prevent the car from getting all that far beyond the figure. “The tyres and the venue of where we’d run the F5 are the limiting factor,” he explained.

The F5’s predecessor - the Venom GT - performed a 270mph run on the 3.22-mile Shuttle landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, but this time around, Hennessey wants to do the deed in Texas. State authorities have apparently already expressed interest in aiding the effort.

While the customer cars - of which only 24 will be made - are expected to pack around 1600bhp from a 7.4-litre twin-turbo V8, the record car will develop much more. How much more? That won’t be revealed until next year, but the GM-derived engine has already been tested at over 2000bhp…

Sooo, the “production” car will not be the one to break the record? Does that mean that they will release another version of the car with the GM sourced engine? It would be great to see hennessey actually break a record officially this time around.

All bark and no bite. Buggati comes out with a car and then shows it off, so does koinesegg. Building such hype is only what crappy companies do. (Before you say that its a new company, neither pagani nor koonesegg did this. Nor did rimac. )

It’s true they have been “hyping” the F5 for years and years now and nothing has come of it. Koenigsegg just came out and did it.

Maybe you ought to have a look at what Hennessey as a company actually does…

Smh.. this is why making assumptions is no good

All bark and no bite.. from something Hennessey made? Mkay.. haha

As far as I know, Hennessey is far from being a “crappy company” and isn’t known for disappointing.

Also:

“koinesegg”, “koonesegg”

*Koenigsegg

“buggati”

*Bugatti

i kind of agree, i do believe that hennessy might really turn out something this amazing, there are chances, but they have been talking about it for years now yet we don’t have any update about how the car is turning out, only more claims

Am I the only to thibk that it’s not fair to give “way more power” to the record car ? I guess it’s okay to just make 24 cars and to not give them full potential ?
It seems to be a lie like “this production car is the fastest in the world but in fact it’s not because it does not have the same amount of power but who cares MURICAAAA”

which is ACTUALLY what made the Agera RS so amazing

a customer was like “hey i wanna see how fast this thing, can go, and Christan, was like, yeah sure, ok,”

like when they made the car, i doubt they expected that VERY car to beat a world record

It won’t be the fast production car though, if the test vehicle is putting out more power
