This 4C-Engined Alfa Giulietta Could Have Actually Caught The Plane In F&F 6

The Alfa Giulietta range-topper gets more power from the 4C's updated TBi engine

Remember the daft but entertaining scene from the end of Fast and Furious 6 with the ultra long runway? The one where an Alfa Giuletta comes from nowhere and somehow catches up with the jet? Well, there's now a quicker range-topping Giulietta - the Quadrifoglio Verde - that might have actually been able to get the job done in the real world. The big difference is under the bonnet. The older version of the 1750TBi petrol engine in the outgoing Giulietta Cloverleaf is gone in favour of the same unit found in the 4C, with an output of 237bhp and 258lb/ft of torque.

That's enough to get the QV from 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds, and up to a top speed 'in excess' of 149mph. It gets a new dual-clutch gearbox (also borrowed from the 4C), sportier suspension, and 320mm Brembo brakes. The Mito range is also receiving a new Quadrifoglio Verde version. That makes do with the same 1.4-litre TwinAir engine as its predecessor, albeit with a new DCT 'box which drops the 0-62mph time to 7.3sec, 0.2secs quicker than the manual.

You'll get the chance to see this pair at next month's Geneva motor show.
