5 Modified Range Rovers To Ruin Your Day

Must. Stop. Staring. So. Ugly...

This is the Hamann Range Rover Mystere, and by some margin, it’s the worst modified Range Rover in the world. Ever. And that’s no mean feat given the Range Rover has long since been a target of unscrupulous tuners and modifiers the world over. Alongside the Bentley Continental GT and the Porsche Cayenne - it holds the title of the world’s most widely modified luxury vehicle. Here are another five diabolical modified Rangies for your viewing pleasure. Or not, as the case may be.

Arden

Arden body modifications allegedly give the Range Rover “a more powerful and elegant line”. To our eyes, this is not the case. Granted - their alterations pale in comparison to some of the other entries on this list, but few of them claim their mods’ improve the Rangie’s “driving dynamics and active safety”. Colour us unconvinced.

Onyx

Onyx Rangies are perfect for people who like to slip by under the radar be the centre of attention 24-hours a day. The tuner describes its Range Rover Sports as having “beautiful and curvaceous body style package

with carbon fibre accessories”. Of all the words used to describe Range Rovers in any form - except perhaps the Evoque - over the years, curvaceous has never been one of them. And it still isn’t. Especially here.

Revere

Revere’s website is accompanied by an operatic piano “symphony”, which is evidently indicative of the company’s luxury aspirations. Its cars, though, are no more than re-trimmed, bodykit-ed Rangies with funny grilles. However much they’d like to think they’re a Rolls-Royce-esque niche manufacturer, we suspect the truth of the matter is that most of their creations end up between a pair of faux neolithic columns in Wilmslow.

Hamann

What we have here is an L322 Range Rover Vogue with the face of a Range Rover Sport. And whose bright idea was this? Ah yes, Hamann. Again. It says the Halfords-spec’ bodykit, which adds 70mm to the Rangie’s width, is designed to “make the luxury SUV appear much more dynamic”. A centrally-mounted twin exhaust and a carbon spoiler that allegedly “generates additional downforce” (because that’s what you really need in a Range Rover, downforce…) round out the aesthetic package.

Mansory

This list wouldn’t be complete without Mansory, purveyors of all things awful. Its Range Rover Sport is a symphony of gaudy, angular carbon fibre appendages that succeed only in making the RRS look hulking and awkward. The modifications aren’t just skin deep, Mansory will give whichever engine you specify, be it a diesel or supercharged 5.0-litre, a healthy power boost. You’ll flash past so quickly, no-one will ever get to see your power bulge...
