6 Petrolhead Road Trip Games That'll Break Up A Long Journey
1. The Manufacturer Game
Create a list of all manufacturers you might find along your scheduled road trip and throw in a few oddballs. You can play this game as either a group or as individuals. For individual play try competing for points. The first person to point out the car gets the points, which go as follows: for the most common cars you get one point, a rarer find gets five points, and for the oddballs you get ten points. Example: Ford = 1 point; Porsche = 5 points; Lamborghini = 10 points.
2. The Generation Game
As a group, agree on a car (or cars) that has multiple generations. Try to find all generations along your travels. Or as individuals, each person picks a different car with multiple generations to try and locate. First person to fill their list wins.

3. The A-Z List
This game works best as a group. Print off the alphabet with room to write next to it. Try to find cars that fit each letter of the alphabet. For example: A = Alfa Romeo B = Bugatti C = Cayman.

Bingo on a road trip? Oh yes, especially if you would like to get youngsters started early on their car knowledge. Prior to the trip, create grids that look like Bingo boards but fill each square with a picture of a car you may uncover along your journey. The boards can either be individualised or identical. First person to get a Bingo wins.
5. The Colour Game
As a collective, try to find a car of every colour in the rainbow. As a twist, put cars with outrageous colours or very specific colours on the list. Example: the Krypton Green Lotus Elise.
6. The Spelling Bee
You play this game exactly like a spelling bee, but sticking to car names and brands. One person is a moderator and has a list of cars. Then each participant takes turns spelling the car they are given.
