This 600WHP Subaru Impreza Revs To 12,000rpm, And We're In Love
A tuning firm in Australia has built an incredible EJ boxer-four, and stuck it an unassuming, stripped-out Impreza LX
We’re pretty certain you won’t have seen a Subaru Impreza like this before. It may look like a boggo, first-generation ‘LX’ from the outside, but under the skin, it’s anything but ordinary.
Under the bonnet you’ll find a de-stroked EJ boxer-four, which is capable of revving to 12,000rpm. Yes, 12,000. Boosted by a single Garrett GTW3884 turbocharger, it’s good for ‘600+’ wheel horsepower, making this stripped-out, 1100kg car rather rapid.
It’s essentially a testbed for Australia tuning company GotitRex, which is why it’s still running the factory-fitted five-speed manual gearbox. As a consequence, it’ll now do 140mph in third gear…
