These highly-modified Golfs are hugely powerful, and as you'll see, quick enough to beat Lamborghinis
HGP, which involves transplanting a 3.6-litre VR6 engine from a Passat R36 into a Mk6 Golf. It's no ordinary VR6, either, it's treated to a gigantic list of modifications including a twin-turbocharger setup.
If - like the car that went up against the Gallardo - you spec the most powerful version of the package, the result is a massive 735bhp.

When we saw this video of a Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore getting beaten by a VW Golf R, we had to find out more. As it turns out, the Golf has received a very special tuning package from German firm
