8 Awesome Things You Can Buy Through Caterham F1's Crowdfunding Clearance Sale

Last month the Caterham F1 Team entered administration. Just prior to the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, the troubled squad started a crowdfunding project and set a target of £2,350,000 in a bid to return to Formula 1 at the 2014 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

The deadline is tomorrow and after a positive few days, the momentum has slowed down, with 54 per cent (£1.275m) of the money raised. To get the cash together, Caterham cleverly put forward a number of rewards that backers would receive. Here are some of the best things you can get your hands on:

1. Wheel nut

A genuine F1 wheel nut would make for an awesome desk ornament. There are plenty of Caterham items for sale for £75 ($125), but if you’re after something a little cheaper, a wheel retainer will set you back £52 ($87).

2. Caterham F1 wheel rim

Only £190 ($316) gets you a Caterham F1 wheel rim, which you could transform into the perfect coffee table or even an awesome flower pot.

3. Caterham F1 race suits

There are a number of F1 race suits on offer. A few of them have already been purchased, but there are still several more to choose from, ranging in price from £394 ($655) to £555 ($922).

4. Dinner with an F1 driver

This once-in-a-lifetime reward (£550; $913) gets you dinner with one of Caterham’s F1 drivers at the Royal Automobile Club in London. If you were hoping to dine with 2014 F1 rookie Marcus Ericsson, however, you can’t; he announced yesterday that he’s terminated his contract and has cut all ties with Caterham.

5. Caterham car experience

Fancy spending an entire day driving a Caterham 7 on a race track? If so, this is the Caterham crowdfunding gift for you. There are 10 spots available at £1100 ($1826) each.

6. Lower rear wing

The full front and rear wings may have been snapped up, but there are still a few aero parts on sale. A lower rear wing piece is up for £2100 ($3486) (excluding delivery).

7. Engine cover

A carbonfibre engine cover would look awesome in your flat. There are two up for sale; one from the 2011 season will set you back £2995 ($4972), while newer versions from 2012/13 are up for £3500 ($5810).

8. Corporate hospitality

If the target is reached in time, you could get corporate hospitality at Caterham for three days and get a rare behind-the-scenes look at how a Formula 1 team operates. Sure, £45,000 is a lot of money, but you won’t get treatment and access like this again.
