8 Cars The New BMW M8 Competition Can Beat To 62mph
When news of the all-new BMW M8 first landed, we couldn’t help but be drawn to the 0-62mph figure. In Competition spec, the coupe version of the M8 will launch to the benchmark speed in just 3.2 seconds.
Since that’s the same time it takes a McLaren 570S to hit 62, we’d call that rather quick. Especially considering the M8 is far from a featherweight - it tips the scales at an especially porky 1960kg.
It’s all thanks to the M8’s trick all-wheel drive system, which can - if you like - be switched ‘off’ to make the car rear-wheel drive. Leave it on, though, and it’ll ensure the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8’s 616bhp is delivered to the tarmac effectively.
As when the M850i was revealed, the M8 Comp’s impressive acceleration stat got us thinking. What more athletic supercars and performance cars can this circa-two tonne hulk of metal and leather beat to 100kmh? We’ve come up with a list of eight, and it makes for interesting viewing.
We’re not, of course, saying that the M8 is any better than these cars just because it accelerates quicker. Rather, we’re just putting its ridiculous straight-line pace in context.

The 0-60 time of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is actually 2.8 seconds and its very likely the Audi R8 V10 Plus can do 0-60 in 2.5-2.8, but that’s only if we’re talking about the R8 V10 Plus model.Sorry, not trying to be a jerk and say you’re stupid, just trying to point some things out.

0-60 is one thing but I’d like to see the results of this list on a timed track lap….
That‘s no point for the M8. In every single other of these cars you will have MORE fun, while accelerating to 62mph AND you will get some extra tenths to enjoy it.
I drove the the GT3, the merc in GTS spec, the erlier corvette the lambo as a spider and the old vanquish v12 and all of them were a lot more fun than the m6 grand coupe. I can‘t imagine, that the m6 grand coupe is much worse than the „not M“ 850m
