The 800bhp SVJ Is Lamborghini's Final Fling With The Aventador

With the end of Aventador production in sight, Lamborghini is preparing a lighter, more powerful track special with functional downforce

A camouflaged Lamborghini Aventador, rumoured to be an even harder, faster version called the SVJ, has been spotted lapping the Nurburgring. The name, which stands for Superveloce Jota, hints at a very special final edition of the V12 supercar.

It would be lighter, faster and track-focused. Power would be stoked as high as 800bhp from the current 740bhp peak in the existing SV. Lamborghini has used the Jota name before, on a special version of the Miura and then on one of the most special iterations of the Diablo. And, let’s face it, another Aventador could never be a bad thing, could it?

The rumour mill is whispering of functional downforce being used to lower lap times, rather than just brute force. It was never Lamborghini’s way in days gone by, but we’ve reached the limits of what’s possible just by sticking a big ol’ engine in a wedge-shaped car.

The Huracan Performante used active aerodynamics to massive effect in its controversial Nurburgring lap record run. It’ll be interesting to see what the larger, heavier Aventador can do with the same tech.

An extra hp bump won’t help much for lap times because the Aventador is too heavy and large. This’ll just end up as another poser car.

The rear steer seemed to help with the Aventador S, so I would imagine they would give it to this and combine that with the new aero and the lap times should start dropping by quite a bit

Imagine if it’s a GTR variant. Obviously wouldn’t compete but would still be godly…
