Four different classes, 34 cars and one of the most famous race tracks in the world. The start of the 6 Hours of Spa was quite a spectacle!

There were some absolutely brilliant battles at the front of the field in the LMP1 class – that scrap between the No.7 Audi and No.5 Toyota through Eau Rouge and Raidillon was absolutely breathtaking.

There was also a big crash in the early stages for the GTE-Pro Aston Martin of Nicki Thiim after contact with the No.38 G-Drive Racing LMP2 car at Stavelot.

But away from the first place overall, there were some brilliant fights out on track in the LMP2 and GT classes. It was awesome to see such a diverse mix of cars and drivers battling wheel-to-wheel, and so cleanly too!

While there was lots of clean, tidy racing at Spa, there were also some not so successful overtaking attempts and battles.

There were some big names at the front of the field hitting trouble, as the leading LMP1 pack was shook up. Every factory car visited the pit garages at least once for repairs, or to retire. The No.2 Porsche finished second despite a big hybrid problem, while the No.5 Toyota suffered an engine failure while leading. The No.6 car had already retired with engine issues. The No.1 Porsche suffered several punctures and the No.7 Audi picked up a broken floor and suffered reliability gremlins.

9. No.8 Audi wins

Issues for rivals opened the door for the No.8 Audi of Lucas di Grassi, Oliver Jarvis and Loic Duval to take the overall 6 Hours of Spa victory, from the limping No.2 Porsche and the No.13 privateer Rebellion.

In LMP2 the No.36 Signatech Alpine triumphed, while the No.71 Ferrari and No.98 Aston Martin took the GTE Pro and AM wins respectively.

I hope in the future WEC gets more coverage and recognition it is 10x times better than F1. Races are way more exciting and interesting.
