9 Jaw Dropping Moments From This Year’s MotoGP Racing So Far
This has to be one of the funniest moments. Marc Marquez crashed out of Dutch TT qualifying but with time still on the clock and a spare bike in the Honda garage, he ‘borrowed’ a photographer’s scooter and sped back to the pits in time to get back out and qualify P4.
Valentino Rossi looked to be a contender for the win at MotoGP’s visit to the Circuit of the Americas in Texas, USA. However, with 19 laps to go he crashed out dramatically at Turn 2, taking him out of contention.
The Dutch TT at the Assen track took place in terrible conditions. It actually had to be red flagged and restarted due to the weather. This produced a truly incredible result, with Jack Miller becoming the first non-factory team rider to win since 2006.
He was, of course, helped by the fact so many people crashed in the rain. So many…
This is one of the more bizarre moments from 2016 so far in MotoGP. Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso were battling Valentino Rossi for second place at the Le Mans track (the smaller Bugatti circuit, not the 24 Hour one) when they suffered almost identical crashes at the same exact time!
A nightmare scenario for a motorsport team boss is for the two (or more) team-mates to collide. That’s exactly what happened to the MotoGP Ducati duo while running second and third in Argentina, on the last lap! A rather embarrassing moment for Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone.
Marquez managed to pull off this epic save during Assen practice. Not sure how he kept his bike upright in that situation!
The Texas MotoGP race was action-packed and included this heavy crash for Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso. But despite crashing out of the race, Pedrosa did go over and check on Dovizioso, which isn’t something you see every day in motorsport.
The Mugello MotoGP round finished with high drama as Jorge Lorenzo beat Marquez by 0.019 seconds to win in Italy, after a stunning final lap of wheel-to-wheel action! MotoGP at its best.
We’ve seen many great overtakes during the MotoGP season so far and many of them have been executed by Rossi; his passes in France were prime examples.
There have clearly been a lot of exciting moments so far this season in the mad world of MotoGP. What others have we missed? Share your suggestions below!
