9 Things You Definitely Shouldn't Do When Supercar Spotting

Supercar spotting is one of the best things to do when in a big city, but there are plenty of things you should definitely avoid doing while trying to spy some of the world’s greatest pieces of motoring machinery...
9 Things You Definitely Shouldn't Do When Supercar Spotting

One scroll through my Instagram account and it’s pretty clear I’m a big fan of supercar spotting. Combining two of my favourite things – London and cars – makes for one fun way to spend an afternoon. But wherever you are, whichever city you are in, there are some things you should definitely avoid doing…

1. Don’t get run over

Chasing after a beautiful McLaren P1 is quite an exciting experience, but it’s also fast paced and that means mistakes can happen. Be aware of your surroundings because while it may be all well and good getting epic footage, it’s not worth risking getting flattened by traffic…

2. Avoid touching the cars

These cars are the pride and joy of the owners, they don’t want random people getting fingerprints all over the windows or people accidentally scraping the paintwork.

3. Head out without doing research

Your life will be a lot easier if you have a search around online for the best supercar spots in your area, the best places to go and if there have been any sightings on the day itself. Instagram is always a good place to go for people uploading pictures. If in London, Knightsbridge and Mayfair are the places to be!

If you are lucky enough to be driving around a city supercar spotting, remember to be safe at the wheel. It may seem obvious but if the automotive masterpiece you are following drives off into the distance, don’t take risks trying to follow it!

5. Get in people’s way

This can mean a few things. Definitely don’t get in the way of the supercars as they are driving around, try to avoid walking in front of traffic and also try not to barge past people and disrupt their journeys on the pavements while chasing supercars. Just be respectful.

6. Stay out of other people’s footage

The window for getting a good picture or video could be just a handful of seconds. So you can imagine it is pretty frustrating when someone walks in front of you or the car, ruining it for everyone else.

7. Don’t go in the winter

If you are trying to find a good time to spot cars in London, or most big cities around the world, try to go in the summer months. This is when the best and most exotic cars will be out on the streets, particularly in the case of London where many rich supercar owners from the Middle East bring their rides over to avoid the scorching heat of their home countries. Don’t go in the winter, or you will just be disappointed…

8. Get your facts right

Saying ‘nice Ferrari bro’ as a Lamborghini Aventador drives past won’t go down well with anyone.

9. Share the wealth

9 Things You Definitely Shouldn't Do When Supercar Spotting

If you know the locations of some really nice cars and some other supercar spotters ask what you’ve seen so far, share the spots. Help them out. We’re all friends here. We all want the same things. Be nice!

What other top tips do you have for things to avoid doing while supercar spotting?

DIY Or Die

This is “Things you should remember doing while supercar spotting” and not “Things you shouldn’t do…”

You shouldn’t NOT get run over? So you should get run over?

You shouldn’t avoid to touch the cars? So you are supposed to touch them?

Well point 3 does make sense…

You shouldn’t drive safe?

Point 5 works aswell. (Always see the positive things in live ;))

Blablabla you get the point ^^

“2. Avoid touching the cars. “ - so we should touch the cars?
“4. Drive safe “ - so we should drive like morons
“6. Stay out of other people’s footage “ - so, make sure you’re in shot
“7. Don’t go out in winter “ - so do go out in winter
“8. Get your facts straight “ - make sure you let all your friends know you saw a Farrari Gallardo VTEC
