Alcho' Aventador Gets Clean (ish)

Lamborghini claims its stop-start tech’ is the fastest around - it uses high-powered capacitors, or “supercaps”, to restart the alcoholic V12 in a “barely detectable” 180 milliseconds. The cylinder deactivation system shuts down one bank of the V12 when you’re pottering around at under 84mph - such classifies as “pottering” in a Lamborghini. As soon as you brush the throttle though, the remaining six cylinders fire up.

The result of Lambo’s efforts? A heady 18mpg - up from 16.4 - and 370g/km of CO2 - down from 398.
