The Alfa Romeo Giulia's Interior Is Magnificent, And It's Packing A Stick Shifter
Upon revealing its new Giulia saloon, Alfa Romeo remained coy on a fair few details, notably by excluding a picture of the interior in the press pack. However, what looks to be an official image of the 3-series rival’s cabin (above) has been doing the rounds, and it looks like the kind of place you’d happily sit for a while.
It’s all rather minimalist, and the centre console is angled towards the driver - a common feature of Alfas gone by. The intricately designed steering wheel is something we wish was fitted to the 4C (the one it actually has is a bit rubbish), with a lovely double spoke design at the bottom, reminicent of the excellent steering wheel found in the current Audi TT.
Another detail we’re fond of is the way the dashboard swoops over the dials and heater vents: there’s no clumsy ‘hood’ over the instrument cluster as is the norm in many modern cars.
The best bit, though? We can quite clearly see there’s a manual shifter proudly sitting on the transmission tunnel. Also, the cloverleaf symbol on the dashboard means this is the 503bhp Quadrifoglio Verde model. So, unlike rivals such as the Mercedes C63 and RS4, the Giulia QV will have a manual option.
Consider this detail, along with gorgeous interior and exterior looks, and the Giulia is sounding incredibly promising. Now we just need to pray the results of this tasty recipe taste as good as we’re hoping…
