All You Need To Know About The New Audi TT
We've had the leak of the TT-S, but now Audi has officially revealed the all-new TT. We say all new, but it certainly doesn't look it: as we've already seen from the design sketches and teaser video, the changes to the outside really aren't that radical.
From the doors backwards it looks scarcely different to the out-going model, and the front - which has been given the most attention - hasn't been changed a great deal. That said, the differences that are present are effective, if a little subtle. The new, slimmer headlights and chunky grille give a more aggressive look, while the relocation of the four-rings badge from the grille to the bonnet is a nice cheeky nod to its R8 big brother.
The car you can see in these images is the TT-S, which will get a meaty 306bhp, 280lb/ft 2.0-litre TFSI engine. It'll be good for 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds, and an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. We can expect a TT-RS at some point too, with an updated version of the current RS' warbly 2.5-litre turbocharged five-pot.
At launch, there'll be two other TTs joining the S: a 2.0-litre turbo four-pot petrol kicking out 227bhp and 273lb/ft, and a 2.0-litre TDi oil-burner developing 181bhp and 280lb/ft. The all-new aluminium chassis comes with the third-generation version of Audi's clever magnetic ride adaptive dampers on the TT-S, and as an optional extra on the other two TTs.
The launch models can be specced with the S-Tronic DCT gearbox, but don't panic; a six-speed manual is standard on all three if paddles aren't your thing.
