Think of racing cars with fancy liveries, and you might have one of BMW’s many ‘Art Cars’ in mind. However, at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, Aston Martin will be getting in on the act with the #97 Vantage GTE it’s entering into the famous race.

The car features a design by German artist Tobias Rehberger, which consists of a “geometric optical effect pattern.” The idea is it looks like the car is moving even when it’s sat still, as it’s difficult for the eye to fixate on one part of the pattern.

He’s not wrong; it is indeed pretty damn hard to focus on any particular part of the design. We recommend you take our word on that rather than spending any length of time staring at this Vantage, though, otherwise you might give yourself a headache….
