The Aston Martin Vulcan Wants In On The Ferrari XX And McLaren P1 GTR Action

It's official, Aston will be going down the super-exclusive track toy route with a yet-to-be-revealed hypercar

It seems Ferrari’s track-only XX programme is a little contagious, as following on from McLaren emulating Maranello’s approach with the P1 GTR, Aston Martin is now following suit with something called the ‘Vulcan’. Details are frustratingly limited at this stage, but we are told that the production run will be strictly limited: fewer than 30 will be made. The car will have its own experience programme, which we can only assume will be a similar sort of deal to McLaren and Ferrari’s, where the company keeps the car and brings it along to track events throughout the year.

As to what the car is, we’re guessing something V12-powered, judging by the sound you can hear in the teasiest of teaser videos above. Given that the company says the machine will be “inspired by Aston Martin’s successful motorsport programmes,” it could perhaps be a radically overhauled version of the V12 Vantage incorporating a truck load of because race car tech.

We’ll get to find out how wrong or right we are when the car makes its debut in a few week’s time at the Geneva motor show.
