The reason why they’re doing this is because all of the Pommy backpackers complain about having to drive down a dirt bumpy road for 500 miles at a time.
How else do you build a road? You lay tarmac down, then compress it while it’s still hot. Job done
They did this out front of my house growing up. It takes a LONG time for all of the little pebbles to finally stick to the road and become something that resembles pavement.
