This weekend's Formula 1 race in Bahrain has again sparked violence by anti-government protesters. In 2011, the race was postponed from March until October because of protests against human rights infringements which were linked to the event. In 2012, a reported 13 protesters were killed by Bahraini security.

This weekend's race has seen special forces conduct home raids near to the circuit, which has resulted in arrests of opposition figures. And where there are arrests, there are protests.

The video below shows shocking footage of a protest which took place just a few hours ago. An organised and masked gang floods a busy intersection armed with tyres, petrol and Molotovs and brings the city to a smokey halt.
