Bangin' Audi RS6 Good For 190mph!

Bad news: Audi's new RS6 has hemorrhaged two cylinders. Good news: it's epically fast nonetheless and looks like this...

This is Audi's spanking new RS6. And there are two things that make this car such a don. 1) It's only available as an epic estate (wagon) and 2) It barks out the same 552bhp as the BMW M5, which should make for an interesting twin test when us UK lot get our grubby fingers on it in July. Speaking of super saloons, we'd also throw the new Jaguar XFR-S into the equation for good measure.

So why has it hemorrhaged 2 whole cylinders? Fuel economy are the buzz words here ladies and gents. In fact, Audi claims that its new twin blown 4.0-litre V8 is 30 per cent more polar bear friendly (thanks in part to cylinder deactivation and a 100kg weight reduction) despite producing more low end grunt in the form of added torque.

But fear not; better fuel economy certainly doesn't mean it'll be slower than the previous V10. Far from it. The new Audi RS6 will hit 62mph from dead in a supercar smashing 3.9sec! Keep your right foot planted and you'll be doing 190mph if you fork out the extra casheesh for Audi's Dynamic Package Plus. Not bad, eh?

Aesthetically, you get the usual RS hallmarks. These include chromed-out wing mirrors, a slammed ride height, 20-inch rims and, for the first time, a split front grille that houses a neat 'quattro' emblem in the lower half. Inside's pretty special too, thanks to lashings of carbonfibre and epic sports seats, which are 'ribbed for her pleasure.'

It certainly looks like the RS6 Avant will be quite a special machine then. And the cost of all this special? We don't know yet, but count yourselves lucky if you see much change from £77k large.

Until we can all afford that kind of coinage, here's another RS Avant model to keep you and your wallets entertained:
