Behold The Subaru Viziv Performance STI Concept And Its Angular Fury

As if the Viziv didn’t look furious enough, Subaru has given its angular concept an STI makeover. Teased earlier this week, the Viziv Performance STI has now been revealed in full, and we like what we see. It’s like it’s angry at existing. Angry at the world. Perhaps angry that the production version it’ll spawn might not have a boxer engine

And spawn a production version it will do, eventually - Subaru calls the car “a vision of the future of STI performance,” after all. Expect the standard WRX to look like a toned-down Viziv, and the WRX STI version to look something like this.

No technical details have been revealed to go along with the show car - which is on display now at the Tokyo Auto Salon. We’re pretty certain that the next-generation WRX and WRX STI will retain a symmetrical all-wheel drive system though, which partly makes up for the anticipated dropping of the beloved but tricky to justify boxer engine.

Something more conventional will no doubt be used in its place, and yes, there’s already talk about the internal combustion component being supplemented by a hybrid system.

For better or worse, the WRX and WRX STI will soon be experiencing its most radical departure ever.

“May not have a boxer engine”
NO! Dont even think about it.
The single best thing about a subaru is the boxer engines.
Keep the boxer engine until you have to go fully electric.
Symmetrical awd and boxer engine is the core, the dna of a subaru. take any of these away especially the boxer engine and to me it ceases to be a subaru, Ill give the brz a pass for being a cheap fun sporty rwd car, but look at the justy and its just a rebadged suzuki with meh awd and a conventional boring tranverse mounted inline engine.
Sad news if Subaru ditches the boxer. they better stick to it.

I HATE IT,I DON’T WANT IT TO REPLACE THE IMPREZA.
1.It’s too much of a landshuttle that a rally legend
2.maybe it might end up a suv like the evo.
3.it would never be “STI performance” without a boxer.
