Bizarre GTA V Glitch Locked Everyone Out Of Police Cars, Including The Cops Themselves

GTA Online users were unable to steal police cars at the weekend, in a bizarre glitch that affected even the AI officers

For a lot of us, pinching a police cruiser is the first thing we do after firing up GTA V. However, for part of the weekend, GTA Online users weren’t able to, because a glitch had caused them to be marked as ‘personal vehicles’ - a feature intended to stop user’s own cars being stolen by other players. The weird thing was, even the AI cops themselves were stopped from getting in the cruisers.

The reason? No one’s sure, but the ladies and gents at Kotaku have helpfully linked to a discussion on GTA Forums, where it’s speculated the glitch was a side-effect of an attempt by Rockstar to fix a “vehicle duping glitch”.

Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

The cops in GTA is stupid. There’s a open door at the other side of the car but the cops didn’t notice it. XD

It doesn’t matter if the door were blown off, they still wouldn’t be able to get in the car. If it’s marked as a “personal vehicle” then they can’t get in it no matter what.

When you car is left hand drive byt the right door only open.

Wow! Car Throttle has some important car related news for all of you! To be fair, if I wanted to talk about GTA, I would be on the GTA forums or Reddit. So, can we please stop the stupid GTA news? I think the majority of us are here to talk about cars and even though this game is vaguely car related, it’s not cars.
