The BMW M5 Competition Edition Is A 592bhp Swansong
The all-new M5 is expected to be here next year, but that doesn’t mean BMW is done with the current ‘F10’ edition. Munich has created this M5 ‘Competition Edition’, and is calling it the “ultimate version” of the fifth-gen M5.
Under the bonnet you’ll find the familiar 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, here turned up to 592bhp and 516lb ft. It also benefits from the standard fitment of the ‘Competition Package’, giving stiffer suspension, thicker anti-roll bars and various other tweaks. 0-62mph takes just 3.9 seconds.
Sounds familiar? That’s because the 30 Jahre M5 launched a couple of years ago had the exact same power boost and Comp Pack combo.
However, you do get a liberal festooning of carbonfibre BMW Performance parts, including a new rear diffuser, mirror caps and a boot spoiler. Plus a smattering of ‘Competition Edition’ badges inside and out, of course.
Want one? You’ll have to be quick, just 200 are being made - making it even more exclusive than the 30 Jahre with its 300-strong production run. It’s not cheap either, with prices starting at a cool £100,995 thanks to the added Comp Pack, BMW Performance parts and a bunch of other standard-fit options.
It’s available in two colours, so how would you spec yours: Mineral White, or Carbon Black?

I just drove a F11 520d today and it’s still a brilliant looking car, kind of weird it’s going out. I hope BMW makes G30’s interior more interesting though.
The new M5 is still gonna have a V8 right??
Maybe the new M5 will be able to put the power down.
Hope the new one brings back the good old exhaust note..
