This Bonkers 265.6mph Run Made The Hennessey Venom GT Spyder The World's Fastest Convertible
Like the 270.49mph set by the tin top version of the Venom a few years ago, we’re guessing this isn’t going to be an ‘official’ record recognised by Guinness at any point. In the case of that 270mph effort, it wasn’t recognised by the organisation as there was only one run (for an official record it would need an average taken from two runs), and not enough Venoms had been built to classify it as a proper production car.
Still, 265.6mph is massively impressive for a car with no roof, and is 11mph higher than the top whack managed by the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. To get it to that speed, the GT Spyder’s 7.0-litre LSX V8 is turned up to an unholy 1451hp, with 1287lb ft of torque on offer. It’s able to hit 200mph in a face-bending 13 seconds.
Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

That thing is still accelerating even after 230 mph…coz most cars suffer from buffeting (James may) at that speeds

I saw this exact car when I passed Hennessey on the way to San Antonio over spring break.
fair to note that it is (around) 1300 lbs lighter than the Bugatti
