The current-generation ST will be getting refreshedCue the 'STD' jokes: the new Focus ST will feature a diesel variant for the first time in the model's history.
Talking to Auto Express at the Geneva Motor Show, a Ford boss confirmed that the car will use a 2.0-litre TDCi engine making 182bhp. The 0-62mph sprint will take eight seconds, and it'll get the same suspension and steering tune as the petrol-powered ST.
Our rendering shows how the new RS could look - expect a toned down version for the STAlthough the power is vastly down on the current 247bhp petrol ST, the big torque figures from the diesel engine could prove problematic, considering the current-generation ST's tendency to torque steer. Here's hoping the new Focus gets a clever diff to sort this issue out.
