The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Is Even More Powerful Than Expected
We’ve never had any doubts about the new Camaro ZL1‘s performance. After all, it’s kicking out 631bhp and 640lb ft from its 6.2-litre LT4 V8, and weighs 90kg less than the old one. However, it turns out its power doesn’t quite match what was originally stated. In a good way.
Yep, it’s actually more powerful than Chevrolet’s original figure, which at the time was referred to as an ‘estimate’. Thanks to a leaked order guide posted on 6Camaro6, we now know the ZL1 is actually good for 641bhp (650hp). OK, so that’s only 10bhp more, but we’ll always take more power if it’s going. And as a bonus, the official figures reveal an extra 10lb ft of torque too.
The new ZL1 coupe should be landing at dealerships towards the end of the year, with a drop top version following in 2017.

Drop top Zl1.. Yeeeeess….
Looks like a kia from the back
Kias are good looking cars, so in My opinion that’s a good thing.
have you saw the chevy cruze?
it looks like a kia but rebadged
The question is…
Can it corner as fast as it looks?
yes
Question is…do you even know how to drive?
The old Z/28 and Zl1 were very quick around the nurburgring , so I’m pretty sure this one will be as well
Since the new Camaro ZL1 has automatic option and so does the Fatcat, I’ll just leave this here
Nonononononono. Don’t get me wrong I love Shelby’s but the super snake was only good in a straight line because of its live axle. Even then it had WAY to much horsepower for that type of axle so by the time a Lamborghini would be good and gone, the super snake would still be spinning it’s wheels at the startline. Great concept, INSANE car but ultimately it wasn’t well executed. The hellcat also has launch control and a bunch of other electronic drag assists and has been known to keep up with and even beat gtr’s. A feat which the super snake couldn’t achieve.
The super snake and zl1 probably do fit in the same catagory.
I don’t understand why the option for an automatic ruins a car though hint hint its optional.
Also i think the gt350 and the z28 camaro with its DSSV suspension are ment to be head to be head competition. Which only comes manual.
Now if they can just keep the car from over heating and going into limp mode after 3 laps, perhaps it will be useable.
‘17 Camaro’s have full warranties that even cover TRACK use. Fix it for free, so why not break some parts?
sounds like you’re talking about a Shelby GT500
Meanwhile at Chevrolet: “Errr… we overpaid the engine guy. Can we do with an intern for design?”
I don’t rate the spoiler, doesnt suit the car well. I would much prefer a lip spoiler
Why not…LS swap it?
It’s a waste of time and money to replace the LT with an ls
Can’t wait for Hennessey to tune it
Hennessey? Pfft, try Callaway. They’re gonna make a 740hp one!
And this is why ct is becoming a disaster…
