Is A Chinese Car Maker About To Bag A Nurburgring Record With This 1340bhp EV?
If the rumour mill isn’t letting us down, Chinese car maker NextEV has turned up at the Nurburgring with a 1341bhp electric supercar.
We can’t be sure if the Nordschleife EV record is about to be broken or not, as in the only available footage it looks like the car was doing slow runs for the cameras – one of which seems to have been in a low-flying helicopter. Proper.
There’s no doubting it’s an EV, and comparing it to previously-seen photos it’s definitely the upcoming Chinese supercar, despite looking like it’s only using about 40 of its rumoured horses.
If and when NextEV decides to set a hot lap it has a benchmark of 7m22s to beat, set by Toyota in the rather serious-looking EV P002. That little racer could hit 158mph and was pretty handy in the bends, too.
It made do with a mere 469bhp backed up with 664lb ft of torque, but the odds are that it weighs less than the NextEV chariot does. It should be fascinating if the Chinese firm decides to go for the record.

Filming vertically? You’re doing it wrong! :’(
It probably has more weight than two hellcats or such terrible range that it’ll only last one lap.
Well is it better than the rimac bc that thing is no joke
Built by China, eh? Finally, this might be something to be proud of, especially since China’s auto industry, while advancing fast, still has knockoffs and all…
