Citroen DS3 Inside Images Surface!

Well, that was fast! Only a few days after the revelation of a new Citroen DS Lineup comes the breaking of the embargo on the Citroen DS3 Inside by Germany's Autobild magazine. Set to be unveiled in Geneva, this should break open the information floodgates on this model in the days to come.

Well, let's just say that while I was really hoping for something spectacular, I was expecting something similar to what we're getting. The DS3 doesn't offer a stylistic throwback of any sort to the original, pioneering DS. It seems as Citroen could have put more effort into creating something truly unique.

Name aside, it is a upscale small car that is charming and inoffensive. The the styling letdown on the DS3 has everything to do with it's name. Like many others I'm sure, I expect a new car wearing the name DS to at least have some resemblance to the original. 

While Citroen is embarking on this excercise to move upmarket, I think they would have served themselves much better honoring the heritage of the original in design.

All we know on the car right now is the name and what it will look like; other details like the technology palette will be forthcoming, most likely at the official launch.

I look to see whether or not it will offer anything new on that front as well. I want to see some innovation from Citroen again!

Each DS model corresponds with an existing Citroen model, for instance the DS3 and C3, the basis model for the DS3. While badged as a "concept", it is a very thinly veiled one. What you see is basically what you'll be getting in production form.
