Citroen Saxo VTS: B-Road Weapon And Track Beater For The Price Of A Laptop
We’ve been rather captivated today by some frantic footage from 750 Motor Club’s ‘Stock Hatch’ racing series, which features a field of stripped-out Citroen Saxos piloted by excitable drivers. We were so entertained by these dinky race cars trading paint, that we wanted in on the fast Saxo action, and have picked this bargain VTS out of the classifieds.
For just £790, this Saxo VTS promises a hell of a lot of fun. Sure, it’s a bit tatty around the edges, but who cares? You get a peppy 1.6-litre engine under the bonnet pushing out 120bhp, enough to send the lightweight Saxo from 0-62mph in just 7.8 seconds. The VTS is also a great handling machine that’s hugely entertaining to drive; point it towards your favourite strip of tarmac and smiles are guaranteed.
Whether you want to use this as your B-road weapon of choice or strip it out and use it as a low-cost track beater, we think this is a bargain. It has 10 months MOT, a service history and has clocked a fairly reasonable 105,000 miles. There are few better ways to spend just under £800.
