Classifieds' Car Of The Day: Bargain Mk3 Toyota MR2 Roadster

A couple of weeks ago we featured a tempting first-generation Toyota MR2 on Classifieds' Car Of The Day. This time around, we're taking a look at the third-generation version of the car. The third-gen model represented a big departure for the MR2 - out was the large coupe, replaced with this pint-sized roadster.

Like previous MR2s, it's mid-engined and rear-wheel drive. The 1.8-litre four-pot mounted behind the dinky cabin develops 138bhp, which in the manual version gives you a 0-60mph time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 131mph.

Sure, it's no rocketship, but the MR2 is superbly balanced and a huge amount of fun to drive. Add sturdy build quality and impressive reliability into the mix, and you have one tempting roadster.

This 2000 example could be a good bet. It's done 80,000 miles and is a snip at just £1695. Convertibles aren't exactly in demand at this time of year, so a little haggling could be possible too. What are you waiting for?
