Classifieds' Car Of The Day: BMW Z4M Roadster With Added Clout
A few weeks ago, we featured the devastatingly fast BMW Z3 M Coupe. Although it's something of a future classic, £11,000 might seem a bit much for some people given the age of the car. So what if you fancied something a little fresher-faced? We suggest you give the potent M version of the Z4 a close look.
As with its predecessor, the Z4 M was available as both a tin top coupe or soft top roadster. Because Spring's just around the corner, it's the roadster we're eyeing up.
Thanks to its beautiful S54 3.2-litre straight six, the Z4M packs a potent 338bhp. 0-60mph is dispatched in 4.8 seconds and, like all BMWs, top speed is electronically pegged at 155mph. Except it isn't here; this car's optional M Driver's package ups that speed to 170mph, as well as adding a stainless strut brace and rear spoiler.
As for the car itself, the M is brutish to drive thanks to its manly hard suspension and heavy gear change and clutch. Grip is excellent, though, and these are great cars to drive.
This 85,000-mile example is well worth a look. And the best bit? At £9800, that's not only serious performance for the money, but also an absolute steal. We're certainly tempted...
