Classifieds' Car Of The Day: Macho Mk1 Ford Focus RS
Today we're taking a look at one of the coolest hot hatches of all time. The standard Mk1 Focus was already a brilliant B-road thrasher and quite the looker, so chucking power and bling its way was always going to work.
The object of our affection today is this example in Gloucestershire. Under the hood you get a turbocharged 2.0-litre 16V Duratec that produces 212bhp and 229lb/ft torque. And although the front wheels struggled to cope with all that power, the Quaife automatic torque biasing diff does a fairly good job of reigning everything in.
On top of the increased power, the RS model got a WRC-style bodykit and 18-inch OZ alloys. Despite the garish blue interior, the Sparco seats hold you firmly in place and are pretty comfortable on longer journeys.
This one can be yours for £6500, and comes with a year's MOT and loads of receipts. For that price you get arguably the most practical of all hot hatches in a stunning package, and this appears to have escaped the clutches of a heavy modder. Perfect.
